On My Way.
It was a relatively normal Wednesday night,
I walked my way down the quiet street to The Bronze.
"Sunnydale seems like such a quiet community ... nothing could ever happen
here." Or so I thought. How ironic that at that moment my perception
changed. Never again will I walk alone in the dark. For at that moment, what
only happens in books or TV happened to me. I was attacked by a vampire. Only I
didn’t realize it at the time.
He had been standing under a lamp-post. Although
dressed in a retro-outfit, the kind my brother would wear in hand-me-downs, he
was very attractive. Looking back, he was probably waiting for an MRE like me
to come along but I had come from a normal town with normal freaks. And even
those were scarce. Actually, the freakiest people were those who worked at Hot
Topics!, and they were harmless!
Anyway, as I walked down the street toward him, he
smiled. I smiled back. I saw no reason not to.
"What’s a young lady like you walking alone
for? Don’t you know there are a lot of monsters out?" he said.
"In a quiet town like this? I think I can
handle myself," I said.
He must have thought I was an easy meal or very
trusting because he took a couple of steps to where I would have walked by. He
stepped right in my direction, making me stop.
"I bet you could."
I should have sensed something, but all he did was
annoy me. I took a step to move around him but he blocked my direction. I took
a step in the other direction and that’s when he moved quickly and pinned me up
against the lamp-post. All he needed was one arm across my chest and his
monstrous face that seemed to change instantly to keep me from moving. With his
free hand, he moved my face to give the best exposure of my neck. Thinking
fast, I brought my knee up hard. His grip on me lessened and he collapsed in
pain. Amidst the pained look of his face, I saw surprise.
I didn’t stick around any longer. I ran like the
blazes for the nearest light. Unfortunately, he recovered quickly and started
after me. I cursed myself for wearing the shoes I did. They were slowing me
down.. I didn’t bother trying to kick them off because he would have caught me
for sure. It didn’t matter though. He threw himself and knocked me to the
ground. Knocked the very breath out of me! This was not a good sign. He crawled
on top of me and rolled me over. Again, he pushed my face aside to get to my
neck.
What will happen to me? Will I defeat this creature
and kick the un-dead crap out of him? Will he bite my neck at suck out my life
essence? Will he turn me into a vampire? Will someone come along and save me?
Or will do he do something totally unexpected?
You decide! (This means either write the next part
or tell me what you want and I’ll write it. ) = )
I thought for sure I was a goner but suddenly his
face contorted in pain and he turned to dust.
Standing over me were a guy and a girl.
"Are you okay?" she asked. She extended a
hand to help me up.
"I’m a little shaken ... was that a
vampire?" I said.
"Fraid so," he said, "Place is full
of them. Although, technically, we don’t know this."
"We were headed toward The Bronze, do you want
to join us?" she asked.
"Uh, yeah ... sure ... sounds good ... did that
really happen to me?" I was still in shock.
"You handled yourself beautifully most people
aren’t survivors ... by the way, I’m Elvira and that’s Darren."
"Fantasma."
"When did you get to Sunnydale?" Darren
asked.
"Uh ... 3 days ago ... I ... uh, just started
school today. I heard The Bronze was the place to be so I started to head down
... and then ... " I trailed off.
"Well, you definitely have a story to share ...
the folks here are pretty nice, I think you’ll like them," said Elvira.
We walked into the club and found it empty. Darren
headed for the kitchen while Elvira and I sat down. She told me not to worry,
everyone’s always a little shaken by their first attack. I didn’t like how she
said first attack.
Darren then came back with a variety of munchies
from the fridge. We sat, we talked, we ate. He then got up and on his way to
the fridge said "I wonder where everyone is. Hey, does anybody want this
last sandwich?"
